Communication tube module

Use this module to send commands from an object’s menu, view command history, and read device responses. The module is also required for commands in the PILOT mobile app.
Communication tube module
The Communication tube module and Commands module can work together or independently. When both are enabled, the features of both modules are available.
Once an administrator enables the module, Commands appears in the object’s context menu in the PILOT web interface.

Sending a command

1. On the Online tab, right-click an object in the list
2. Select Commands
3. In the window that opens, select a command from the list
4. Enter its parameters
5. Click Send

Command parameters

After you select a command, fields for its parameters appear. The number and purpose of these fields depend on the selected command.
For example, send_message has a message parameter. Enter the command text you want to send to the device in this field.
To request the current status of an ADM333, select send_message and enter the following in message: STATUS
Click Send. A record will appear in the command history. Once the device responds, the response will appear in the Answer column.
Command syntax, parameters, and response formats depend on the device model. For details, refer to the manufacturer’s documentation. For example:

Command history

The Commands history section at the bottom of the Commands window shows sending dates, parameter values, command statuses, and device responses.
To view records for a specific period, set the start date in From and the end date in To, then click the refresh button to the right.
The table displays:
  • Date — date and time the command was sent
  • Command — command name, such as send_message
  • Parameters — values sent with the command, such as message: STATUS
  • Status — command processing status
  • Answer — response received from the device
For example, sent means the command has been sent. In the illustrated STATUS request, the status changes to accepted after a response is received, and the device data appears in Answer.
To delete a history record, click the trash icon in its row.
